What Happened to the Honey Bucket?

The Honey Bucket Saloon in Menomonee Falls, burned down on February 2, 1991. A grease fire in the grill area was the cause, flashing over into the ductwork. The manager tried to put it out while the rest of the staff evacuated customers from the building. It took 4 ½ hours to get the fire under control, and another 3 ½ hours before the firefighters left. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries. Even the people at mass at St. Mary’s that Saturday night could smell the fire all through the service. Damage was extensive on the second floor and much of the roof collapsed.

The building was built in 1892 and was a popular tavern and social club.  The fire happened on a Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Despite a few scattered rain showers, everyone had a great time in 2024.
